The success behind Scotts Lawn Care Service
Scotts brand products are recognized worldwide. These products have been improving lawns, shrubs, trees and gardens for over a century. The products came first; Scotts lawn care service as a nationally recognized lawn service was developed later. Their nationwide franchises provide specially trained field staff who will conduct extensive tests to determine soil, grass, weed and insect problems and design a regimen of treatments, using only Scotts tried and true products, to improve the health and beauty of your yard.
A healthy lawn will resist weeds and insects and help to provide a healthier environment. Scotts uses only the fertilizers that your lawn requires and only in the amounts necessary. This means no chemically burned lawns and no residual or unused fertilizers or chemicals to clean up or wash away. Once your lawn has become lush and healthy, it will require less watering. Using less water in areas where water use has to be carefully monitored, is a very important consideration when choosing lawn services or products.
Scotts also provides a special division to help maintain shrubs and trees. This is a different area of expertise, requiring extensive knowledge of tree and shrub care and fertilizing needs. This division can also test for the emerald ash borer and recommend the appropriate treatment, if you have ash tree on your property. If left untreated, this insect can completely destroy ash trees in one to three years. Testing now will save heartache in the future.
In addition, Scotts has a little-known branch that can test for and treat pests in the home. If treatment is needed, the Scotts staff can show you how to make your home more insect proof and then retest on a yearly basis.
Scotts products and are known and respected worldwide. Their successful development of the best lawn care products and fertilizers have resulted in an expertise that is unequaled by any other brand. Scott lawn care service offers not only highly trained experts in the field of lawn, shrub, tree management and pest control; they have an assortment of proven products on hand to get the job done.

Roll your lawn for a finished look
If you are in the process of laying out new sod on your lawn or planting new seed, then it is important to first prepare the soil properly so that your new grass grows well and also so your newly established lawn looks good when it comes in. One important aspect of getting your yard prepared for the development of a new lawn is to make sure it is flat so that when your grass finally grows in, the lawn looks smooth and well prepared. And getting that ground level is fairly easy with the use of a lawn roller to help you do the job.
What exactly is a roller and why should you use one? Basically, a lawn roller is a large cylindrical drum that is weighted and is attached to some type of mechanism that helps to move it along. This can be a handle used for manually pulling the drum along the ground or it can be a set of bars and supports that are used to attach the rolling drum to a tractor, lawnmower, or other moving object to help propel the drum.
No matter how the tool is operated, whether manually or by hooking it up to a machine, it works by flattening the ground below due to the heavy weight of the drum and the smooth surface. This will not be enough to flatten out a very uneven surface -- for that you may need to actually add or remove soil in order to level the area as best as you can. But once that is done, a roller can provide the finishing smoothing out of the ground in order to prepare it for seed or sod.
There is some great information about lawns, lawn care and just about everything having to do with your backyard that can be found at the Backyards and Gardens website. It’s definitely worth checking out!

The best lawn helpers
Do you have a lawn at home? Well if you do, you must be thinking of the best lawn equipment that you should have to help you out with the lawn. There are so many to choose from and it certainly causes a big headache, especially when it is your new home and you have just started to know all about lawns and how to best manage them. Fortunately there is the internet and you can have a piece of mind learning many of the important things you need to know online. You can of course go out to your nearest bookstore to buy some books on lawn care too.
Whatever option you choose, in this article of mine, I would be talking about lawn sweepers and lawn rollers. If you do not already know, the lawn roller is used to flatten your lawn of any uneven surface or potholes resulting in a flat and aesthetically pleasing look for the garden. As for the lawn sweeper, it acts like a vacuum cleaner and helps to suck up all the trash, dead leaves and rubbish that you would want out of your lawn. Both are essential lawn care equipments that a professional homes person would not want to do without.
One of the best places to get a lawn roller or lawn sweeper are from Agri Fab. Those that I own are from Agri Fab too and I just love my Agri Fab lawn roller and Agri Fab lawn sweeper. These are about the best lawn helpers you can get. Of course there are other lawn equipment or tools that you can get to help you out with the lawn. If you do not want to get your hands dirty, you can also engage professional services to help you out. There are plenty of options available.

Push leaf vacuum speeds lawn chores
Push leaf vacuum comes in quite handy when trying to operate a lawn service company. A lawn service company will prosper if you run it appropriately. Given the right tools and the right prices a lawn commercial company will give you a good return if you place the right effort into running a company. With the right lawn maintenance products. A push leaf vacuum resembles a lawn mower however it will not mow the lawn. You can purchase a push leaf vacuum that will get rid of all the leaves in the area that you are taking care of.
A push leaf vacuum is not just for commercial use. You can purchase a push leaf mower to use for personal uses as well. The push leaf mower that you will use on your lawn at home will work great no matter if you have a small problem with leaves or you have a huge problem with leaves. Either way the leaf mower will work great. If you have a small yard with a limited amount of space a push leaf vacuum is not the best option probably. However if you have a decent size yard that requires a push mower for cutting your grass or even a ride on mower then you could think about purchasing a push behind garden leaf vacuum.
You could think about what the work difference is between raking your leaves and the amount of time that you would spend on vacuuming the leaves. If you could spend 4 hours trying to rake them and get them in a bag and to the curb or you could spend an hour and a half vacuuming the leaves and then placing them in a bag to the curb what option is the best for you? The amount of time that you spent could have been saved with a purchase of a push leaf vacuum.

Growing grass in a dry climate
It’s true that growing and maintaining a lovely thick lawn that looks and feels wonderful under your feet is getting increasingly difficult with water conservation foremost on many people’s minds. But it’s not impossible. There are suggestions for areas such as California and Arizona that it’s best to simply give in and replace your lawn with synthetic grass, but there are still options available if you want to go for a natural lawn.
Although the temperatures soar in the summer months, if you have prepared your soil properly you have every chance of surviving the warmer months with a strongly growing lawn. Your first step is to add as many nutrients as you can into the yard. It doesn’t matter whether you already have a healthy lawn or are planting a new lawn, the best chance it has of survival is with a solid boost of compost fertilizer.
If you are starting a new lawn from scratch then it will simply be a matter of digging in wheelbarrow load after wheelbarrow load of rich compost, working it in deeply to the soil. An existing lawn will involve topsoiling the lawn with the compost. Once it has been put in place and watered in, it will work its way down into the subsoil over time. The grass will grow through it within a couple of weeks anyway.
When you have given your lawn this kind of start it will be able to build a strong root network that will sink deeply into the soil. Although the grass may brown off slightly in the summer, depending on the type of grass you use, it will come back strongly when it cools.
The best types of grass for warmer climates include Bermuda Grass, Buffalo Grass, Tall Fescue and Zoysia Grass. Planting one of these types of grass in the cooler months and getting the lawn well established before it begins to grow hotter will help avoid a barren wasteland in the front or backyard by the end of summer.
